El majestic Torres del Paine, Patagonia, Chile

Week 24 – This week I wanted to talk about the very good quality of the museums I’ve visited in Tierra del Fuego and Punta Arenas. But something happened…
Week 23 – This immersion in Tierra del Fuego (with the city of Ushuaia on the Argentinian side) and in the Magallanes province (with the city of Punta Arenas on the Chilean side) allowed me to discover how much the will of the governments in place in the 19th century was strong to gain new territories.
Week 22 – Ushuaia is the southernmost point we had planned to go to during our trip, and probably the most southerly I will ever reach in my all life! It was mythical for me and, again, I’m not disappointed!
It was the fifth and last day of our expedition in the Torres del Paine! From the Torres Central campsite, the last hike leads to the Base de Las Torres. This is the most famous of the park
In the same way that day 3 ended, day 4 started in incredibly calm and sunny Patagonia… Had we been transported to another country or another dimension?!
This day began with a very beautiful 7 km walk to the Italiano campsite where we had planned to stop because it is the starting point of a detour to the Valle del Francès.
This was our first actual walking day. We will have 4. The goal was to hike the 11 km to join the second shelter we had booked: the Refugio Paine Grande.
The Torres del Paine was the HIGHLIGHT of our visit of the Chilean Patagonia! We were looking forward to it and we were absolutely not disappointed.
Week 21 – We spent the week in the city of Puerto Natales and in THE FABULOUS Torres del Paine park!
Week 20 – Here we are! I’ve been dreaming about this part of the world for years and here it is, here I am, I am in Patagonia!
This popular hike in the mountains of El Bolson is incredibly beautiful! Dragged by the friendly and very energetic couple from Quebec, we jumped into a taxi in the morning to get to the starting point of this fantastic hike to the summit of Cerro Piltriquitrón!
Week 19 – Since we have acquired the car, we have camp more often than we have stayed in hotels. The rooftop tent is in fact really comfortable and very easy to open and pack. We don’t regret our choice… for the moment anyway, but we will have to see further south in Patagonia where the winds might discourage us from staying outside!
Back on the trails! This weekend we decided to hike a nice path going to the Refugio de la Laguna Negra at 1650m where we spent a night, our heads in the mountains!
Week 18 – Having left Pucón in Chile, we crossed the border and spent the week discovering the wonderful Argentinian side of Lake District.
Week 17 – This week, we drove in the Sur Chico region of Chile. We are now surrounded by green mountains, volcanoes and dark blue lakes.
Empanadas… I think everyone who traveled through Latin America has tasted at least once this pastry…
We could not cross Chile without stopping in one of its wine regions and tasting some of its best products. So we choose the Colchagua Valley and opted for a degustation menu at Lapostolle winery near Santa Cruz.
Week 16 – These last days have been basically focusing on driving south toward Patagonia, the main goal of our trip.
My first discovery was not really a success… I was expecting the most delicious sweet of Argentina and it was in fact a little bit…
Week 15 – A little extra again! There’s a lot to see around San Pedro de Atacama, the nature being so aride and extreme. We decided to go to few of the Lagunas south of the city.
